Excommunication for Pedophiles

Dear TIA,
Due to the current escalation of news concerning the clergy's sexual abuse of the faithful, it is timely to remind readers of a true Catholic response to such matters.
Far from a progressivist sin-promoting secrecy, the Wisdom of Our Lord imposes exposure. The following excerpt points to the seriousness with which our beloved and true Catholic Church actually views such offenses. Comments can be found in an original publication of the Special Edition Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume 16, 1914. The source quoted is Pope Pius IX:
Excommunications of the Constitution Apostolicae Sedis (12 October, 1869) are pronounced against the following persons:
"Those who, through there own fault, neglect or omit to denounce within a month the confessors or priests by whom they have been solicited to immodest acts, in all the cases set forth by our predecessors Gregory XV in the Constitution Universi (20 Aug., 1622) and Benedict XIV in the Constitution Sacramentum poenitentiae (1 June, 1741)."
It is true that God expects much from the least of us. If an innocent victim is held to such a standard, woe to those in authority who fail them.

Dr. Pamela Dettman

Dear TIA,
This may seem like a strange... request.
I have purchased and read all of the series published so far in English by Atila Guimarães - his eleven-volume treatise on Vatican II.
The problem is that I am now 72-years-old. Has it become a case of whether I may die or the translator may die? Or maybe the horse may die!
I would like to read the rest of Guimarães work this side of wherever I may be going.
Please advise (and if you say "take care of your health," you're summarily dismissed!)
N.G.B.
TIA responds:
Dear Mr. N.G.B.,
We couldn't have a more touching encouragement than yours to speed up the publication of Mr. Guimarães' Collection on Vatican II. Be sure than he and we appreciate your request very much.
At this moment he is working on the preparation of the next volume - which will be volume II, the sixth to be published. If things go according to plans, it should go to press by July.
Unfortunately, TIA is a small organization that has neither the staff nor the means to publish the missing volumes all at once.
We all have our own problems to face in these difficult days and have to rely on Our Lady. We ask her to keep you alive so your very just desire can be fulfilled.
Cordially,

Lamma Sabacthani
TIA,
I purchased Volume 1 of Eli, Eli, Lamma Sabacthani from you recently. How about Volumes 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11?
Are they available? I would like to purchase all the volumes if I could. I know that you have Volumes 4, 5 and 6.
D.T.
TIA responds:
D.T.,
Volume 11 Ecclesia is also published and can be purchased here. The other Volumes presently published - volumes 1, 4, 5, and 6 - can be purchased in our online bookstore. You can also purchase the three special editions to the Collection there: Vatican II, Homosexuality & Pedophilia, Quo Vadis, Petre? and Previews of the New Papacy.
We are presently working on Volume II - Animus Injurandi I (Desire to Offend I) and hope to publish it by July.
For an explanation of the sequence of publishing, please see this interview with Atila Guimarães.

Anti-Ecumenical
TIA,
I just finished reading the first half of " How to Address Priests and Religious: Titles and Signs of Respect by Marian Therese Horvat, Ph.D."
As a senior and a Catholic, I find that the distinction you make in addressing a priest and a protestant minister, and similarly bishops, is unchristian and uncharitable. It is insulting to the persons of other religions and shows a lack of understanding of the need to honor all human persons. This kind of attitude leads to strife and, in the past has led to war. It is unechumenical.
Please reconsider your article.

Venerating Washington
|
TIA,
I came across your website and have found it interesting or shocking about the things going on in the Catholic Church today, but I am puzzled by one thing.
Why do you venerate George Washington, in one of your articles? He is a well documented Freemason. May I say before pointing the finger at someone, to be careful and see that there is not 10 pointing back.
Regards,
R.H.
TIA responds:
R.H.,
We have several articles on George Washington: One praising his good manners, which is the one you read, and another showing that he did not die a Catholic as many pretend, but as a Freemason. We believe that the two points do not exclude one another.
Our Lord, who was extremely severe with the Jews for their rejection of His messianic mission, nonetheless praised them for being good parents. He was not 'venerating' the Jews, to use your language, for praising their generosity toward their children (Matthew 7:11), as we are not venerating Washington for praising his good manners.
Our Lord gave us a lesson in discernment. We should analyze everything, reject what is bad and accept what is good, as St. Paul advises us to do (1 Thess 5:21).
We hope this may expand your simplistic criteria of judgment.

Spanish Bishops
Dear TIA,
Thank you, Dr.Horvat, for your insightful and enlightening article on The King and the Socialist Abortion Law."
I am very thankful for all of you at TIA because I can receive the 'story behind the story' of atrocities that seem to occur daily in the world.
Dr. Horvat points out that the Bishops of Spain were certainly against this law and even took the courageous step of condemning it! Such backbone! However, when it came to exerting their real authority as successors to the Apostles, they chose to do... nothing. What else is new?!
These timid and cowardly men either seek the respect of the power structure or are secretly with the opposition. Poor souls who will one day have to stand alone before the awful judgment seat of Christ, from Whom nothing is hidden.
The true Church continues to shrink and will do so until only a tiny remnant is left. "When the Son of Man comes again, will he find faith on earth"?
In Christ,
S.M.C.
