Deaconesses: a consummate fact in Germany
Taking advantage of the doors opened by Pope Francis, many German Bishops are establishing deaconesses in their dioceses as a consummate fact. Indeed, when Francis ordered a commission to study the role of deaconesses in the first centuries of the Church, he encouraged such initiatives. He showed the same support when the Vatican allowed a woman to celebrate a marriage in Canada. The photos on this page show how common it has become in that country to see women as lectors, preachers, acolytes or even taking the place of the priest and appearing to be actual priestesses.
Should we blame the bold German Bishops, Francis or the entire current – Progressivism – that inspires these initiatives placing women in the place of priests?
