Nordic Catholic Bishops gather with Lutherans
The Nordic Bishops Conference (NBK) met in Turku, Finland, from February 26 to March 2. One of the highlights of the five-day gathering was an ecumenical meeting with Lutheran bishops from Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland, above.Seating left to right: Catholic Bishop Teemu Sippo (Helsinki, Finland), Lutheran archbishop Antje Jackelén (Uppsala, Sweden), Catholic Cardinal Anders Arborelius (Archbishop of Stockholm, Sweden), Lutheran archbishop Kari Mäkinen (Helsinki, Finland).
Standing left to right: Sister Anna Mirijam Kaschner (NBK Secretary-General), Catholic Bishop Berislav Grgic (Tromso, Norway), a unidentified Lutheran bishop, Lutheran bishop Helga Haugland Byfuglien (Norway), Catholic Bishop Bernt Eidsvig (Oslo / Trondheim, Norway), Lutheran bishop Peter Skov-Jakobsen (Denmark), Catholic Bishop Czeslaw Kozon (Copenhagen, Denmark), Lutheran Agnes M. Sigurðardóttir (Iceland) and Catholic Bishop David Tencer OFMCap (Reykjavik, Iceland).
"As Christians in a secular society, we must speak with one voice to proclaim the message of Christ today," said Cardinal Arborelius during the meeting. "The ecumenical dialogue should not only consist of words, it must always consist of actions".
As a nefarious consequence of the year commemorating Luther's revolt promoted by Pope Francis, we see that almost all differences between Catholics and Protestants are being watered down, making the Conciliar Church something very similar to Protestantism and very different from the Catholic Church.
