Above, you see Archbishop José Alberto Moura in a white shirt at the microphone, delivering a speech at the God and Liberty Masonic Lodge in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He is the head of the Archdiocese of Montes Claros and also president of the Commission for Ecumenism and Inter-religious Dialogue of the Brazilian Bishops Conference.

The first purpose of his visit, which took place on March 5, 2009, was to create a Catholic-Freemason study group on public security in the vicinity of the Archdiocese. In his speech Moura stressed areas where the Church and Freemasonry should work together, such as violence, child prostitution, social injustice and corruption in politics.

During that meeting the Northern Minas Gerais Council of Freemasons as well as the local Police Lodge offered an award to Archbishop Moura commemorating his historic visit, below first row.
