Glorious Body & Eastern Rites

Our Lady of Bethlehem

Dear Dr. Horvat,

Thank you so much your generous gift of TIA's two new books (here and here). I am so happy to read about the wonderful statue of Our Lady of Bethlehem.

I hope my contributions have been a help to Tradition in Action in your glorious fight against the enemies of the Church. I hope to be able to continue to donate for as long as I can.

May Our Lady protect and guide you in your noble work, a light for so many in these dark times.

     In Maria,

     J.K.

Dear TIA,

Since my move, I miss coming down to Los Angeles to see you all. But we, my friends at our chapel, are reading and promoting TIA all the more. We are your counter-revolutionary disciples!

Four Properties of a Glorified Human Body

TIA,

Sacred Scripture and Catholic theology teaches that our glorified resurrected bodies will experience four properties as an outflow of the beatified soul enjoying the vision of God’s essence:

1. Impassibility – the glorified body will no longer suffer physical sickness or death, as Saint Paul teaches regarding the glorified body in 1 Corinthians 15:42, “It is sown in corruption, it shall rise in incorruption.”

2. Subtlety meaning that we will have a spiritualized nature in the sense of a spiritual body as did our Lord as we learn at 1 Corinthians 15:44: “It is sown a corruptible body, it shall rise a spiritual,” i.e. a spirit-like, “body.” We see that Christ’s glorified body was able to pass through closed doors.

3. Agility – the glorified body will obey the soul with the greatest ease and speed of movement as we read in 1 Corinthians 15:43: “It is sown in weakness, it shall rise in power,” that is, according to a gloss, “mobile and living.” Saint Thomas Aquinas says, “But mobility can only signify agility in movement. Therefore the glorified bodies will be agile.” We discern agility our Resurrected Lord’s ability to bi-locate and travel great distances in an instant.

4. Clarity – the glorified body will be free from any deformity and will be filled with beauty and radiance as we read at Matthew 13:43: “The just shall shine as the sun in the kingdom of their Father,” and Wisdom 3:7: “The just shall shine, and shall run to and fro like sparks among the reeds.” Here clarity refers not being “clear” but to being “bright.”

St. Thomas Aquinas at Summa Contra Gentiles, IV, 86 summarized: “Thus also will his body be raised to the characteristics of heavenly bodies — it will be lightsome (clarity), incapable of suffering (impassible), without difficulty and labor in movement (agility), and most perfectly perfected by its form (subtlety). For this reason, the Apostle speaks of the bodies of the risen as heavenly, referring not to their nature, but to their glory.”

It is worth noting that the Virgin Mary has already received her glorified and resurrected body. Hence, she has the four gifts of the resurrection.

May we persevere so as to receive these remarkable gifts.

Resurrected Christ, have mercy on us.

     F.D.

Septuagesima Sunday

TIA,

On this Sunday the Church begins her solemn preparation for Easter.

The Liturgy is of a penitential character. The altar is stripped of its ornaments, the Gloria in Excelsis is entirely omitted and the Canticle of Our Lord, Alleluia, ceases to be said. Purple and Violet vestments are used.

It is Your Face O Lord that I seek.

     Hide not Your Face.

Empty Churches

TIA,

Below is a cartoon published in an Italian magazine, sent to me by a friend. I added the translation to English.

Fr. P.A.

An Italian cartoon questioning when the Pope will start trying to fill the empty churches instead of just public events

-Wherever the pope goes, he fills the public squares.
- And when will he start to fill the churches?

Re-discovering the Two Sister Lucys

Dear TIA,

I think you are probably aware of the website Rad Trad Thomist.

Your readers would be interested to know that there is a funding campaign underway by Dr. Chojnowski to have a scientific study done to determine whether there are 2 Sr. Lucy's, and if so, to investigate what happened to the real Sr. Lucy.

It is a worthy cause, and it would be good to support it with prayers to Our Lady of Good Success, and financial help.

God Bless you and all your good work,

     I.R.

TIA responds:

Dear I.R.,

Thank you for your information.

We believe that the comparative analyses made by Dr. Marian Horvat are quite scientific and conclusive. When, to those conclusions, are added the age-regressive and progressive projections of photographs made by to a professional company ordered by the Servants of the Holy Family, we believe that the picture is quite clear and accessible to anyone who does not have a bias or an agenda.

When other people pretend to “discover the two Sister Lucys” after those articles, they actually are not discovering anything; they are just re-presenting what was already exposed.

If they want to “prove” that there were not two different persons, they will be denying the reality or, rather, they will be trying to “disprove” that finding because someone is bothered by it.

Who can he be? If there is someone bothered by that discovery of two Sister Lucys, it is the Vatican.

Sacraments In Eastern Rites

Hi,

I enjoy your website in these confusing times.

I hope you can assist me in answering a question that I get different answers on. which is the following:

Are we allowed to go to a validly ordained Eastern Rite for the Sacraments?

I prayed if I should go there and asked Mary, Our Mother for guidance. I asked if I should not attend these Liturgies then let the Priest speak a heresy at the Liturgy.

The next day I was attending on a weekday for St Michael's Feast Day. Well, with only 5 people present, He said all the people in the Baptist Church that were killed in Texas were martyrs and were Holy and are now in heaven! I was shocked and whispered to my husband to clarify what I heard.

That was the first time I had ever heard such a Sermon like that in all the 7 years we had been attending. Was this my answer that I prayed to Mary for her to intercede in letting me know if I should attend or not?

Please help.

Does the Church teach that you are not to be in spiritual communion with heretics since you are receiving Communion and by this are in communion with them?

     Sincerely,

     J.P.

TIA responds:

Hello J.P.,

Yes, you can go to a Catholic Eastern Rite to receive the Sacraments. Normally those Masses and Sacraments are valid.

It is sad that in the sermon you are hearing things that are not Catholic.

Some of our TIA writers go to the Armenian Catholic Rite Mass and the preacher constantly praises Martin Luther King. They continue to fulfill the Sunday obligation and receive the Sacraments and simply disregard what the priest says at the sermons.

If you could do the same, it seems that you will have the same benefit.

On the other hand, an acquaintance of TIA in a similar situation decided not to continue attending those Masses because the sermons were having a bad influence on his children.

So, you have to decide for yourself whether or not you and your husband are able to go to Mass for the Sacraments and disregard the bad teaching of the priest.
