Archbishop Gerhard Muller welcomes punk girls
We learned this week that Benedict XVI named German Bishop, now Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Muller of Regensburg to be the next Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. To provide some background on this protegé of Cardinal Karl Lehmann (here & here), we will be posting some photos of him on the coming Sundays.Above, you see him at a World Youth Day embracing two punk girls. The one with the green-colored Iroquois haircut is taking a quite intimate posture with him, placing both hands over his shoulder and leaning her head on her hand. Both girls in their spaghetti strap tank tops are hardly models of Catholic modesty. Without any show of embarrassment, a smiling Muller broadly embraces them, drawing them close to his chest and touching their bare arms and lower backs.
If the saying is true that by the finger we know the giant, then here we have a good sample of the direction Catholic Morals will take, since Muller will soon be in charge of determining what is good or bad for Catholics.
