The swinging and waving French clergy
Swinging, waving and singing to the rhythm of soft rock, some 11 members of the French clergy of Strasbourg, above, participate in the joy of their charismatic audience in an outdoor party-Mass.
The young woman performer, below first row, sings in French and German, the words of a ballad, which freely translates as follow:
Go to speak to all the frontiers,
Open your hearts to the life beyond,
Go and bring to all your brothers,
The joy of believing in Jesus Christ!
Stand up! Stand up!
Stand up here and now.
Stand up before God!
The world awaits you.
If the storm unfolds,
Open your hearts to the life beyond.
Seek far from the walls of hatred
The joy of believing in Jesus Christ!
Stand up! Stand up!
Stand up here and now.
Stand up before God!
The world awaits you.
It is very sad to see one more example of clergy who, by abandoning their gravitas to please the world, lose their own identity. But it is one more fruit of the Council...
