Benedict practicing "communicatio in sacris"
Warsaw, May 25, 2006 - Above, Benedict XVI and Schismatic bishop Jeremiasz Anchismuk kiss as part of a religious ceremony carried out by Catholics, Schismatics and Protestants that took place in the Lutheran temple of that city.
The Canon Law of 1917 severely condemned as suspect of heresy persons who participate in religious ceremonies with heretics - communicatio in sacris - (Canons 1258, 2259, 2261, 2315, 2316, 2338, par. 3).
Below, first row at left, Benedict holds the book of common prayers; at right, an inside view of the ecumenical event. Second row, two close-ups of the common prayers; Evangelical bishop Janusz Jagucki stands at right.
