On June 5, 2005, Cardinal Roger Mahony, Archbishop of Los Angeles offers the main altar of his Cathedral to Monophysite Armenian patriarch Karekin II to celebrate a heretical mass.
As is known, the old Monophysite heretics from Armenia, Ethiopia, Egypt and Syria call themselves "Orthodox," creating a considerable confusion with the other "Orthodox" denominations that come from the Schism of Constantinople in the 11th century. The former are officially heretics, while the latter are officially schismatics.
The Armenian patriarch Karekin II is, therefore, a full and complete heretic, and the "mass" of his false religion is an offense to God.
Even though Mahony has already offered the Los Angeles Cathedral for many ecumenical purposes, this was the first time that an officially heretical mass is said on the main altar.
Above, the Cardinal of Los Angeles welcomes Karekin II, moments before his heretical mass starts.
Below, after the "mass," Mahony poses with Karekin, other Monophysite bishops and an Armenian choir that performed in the ceremony.
