Che Guevara, Communism, and the
Progressivist Heresy

Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, also known as El Che, or just "Che," was an Argentine madman. A photo of him by Alberto Korda appears around the globe on t-shirts and protest banners and a host of other formats, "from thong undies to skateboards, from cell-phones to infant “onezies" (1). He is much admired. Korda's picture is said to be "the most famous photograph in the world and a symbol of the 20th century" (2).

The grotesque incongruity of this delirious affection comes into relief when one considers that his "deranged fantasies included a continental reign of Stalinism"(3). Further, for the first year after the Cuban revolution of 1959, Che became Fidel Castro's "main executioner – a combination Beria and Himmler"(4). He didn't believe in trials or due process of any kind, declaring that "judicial evidence is an archaic bourgeois detail"(5). Behold his modus operandi while serving Fidel:
“Che Guevara's delight in slaughtering Cubans was made possible only because these Cubans were completely defenseless at the time. Bound and blindfolded was his preference. And in that very manner they were lined up in front of his firing squads" (6).
Che's executions of anti-Communists were meant to terrorize the populace, so he made them public.
"And the executions, right down to the final shattering of the skull with the coup de grace from a massive .45 slug fired at five paces, were public too. Guevara made it a policy for his men to parade the families and friends of the executed before the blood-bone and brain-spattered paredon"(7).

As for Che's alleged bravery:
"The century's most celebrated guerrilla fighter never fought in a guerrilla war or anything even approximating one. The few puerile skirmishes against Batista's army in Cuba would have been shrugged off as a slow night by any Cripp or Blood.
"The acrid odor of gunpowder and blood never reached Guevara's nostrils from actual combat. It always came from the close-range murder of bound, gagged and blindfolded men. He was a true Chekist: `Always interrogate your prisoners at night.' Che commanded his prosecutorial goons. `A man is easier to cow at night, his mental resistance is always lower’"(8).
And now a word about Che's boss:
"Fidel Castro's influence over the Western `intelligentsia' can only be described as magical, and renders any public evaluation of his regime among the smart set completely devoid of logic. To wit: He brought the world closest of anyone to
nuclear Armageddon. Yet he was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by Norwegian parliamentarians"(9).
In 1996 John Paul II welcomed Fidel to the Vatican, and in 1998 Fidel welcomed the Pope to Cuba. The prestige rendered to Communism by these meetings could only have come into being by the silence about the Communist evil at Vatican II. By the late 1970's there were as many as 20,000 anti-Communists held in the prisons of Cuba (10). From 1959 through the late 1990's more than 100,000 Cubans experienced life in one of the camps, prisons, or open-regime sites. Between 15,000 and 17,000 people were shot (11).
In 2005, when John Paul II welcomed the new Cuban Ambassador Raul Roa Kouri, "an extremely close friend of Ernesto Che Guevara, (who) still has a great admiration for him"(12), JPII begged Raul "to express my best wishes for (Fidel's) health, as well as my hopes for the integral prosperity of the dear Cuban Nation"(13). John Paul ended his talk with Raul by saying,
"I renew my greeting to the Cuban authorities and wish upon you, your family and your collaborators, as well as upon the entire Cuban Nation, which I remember always with affection, God's help and His abundant blessings"(14).
John Paul's warm "greetings" to the murderous "Cuban authorities" sealed the collaboration of the Vatican with Communism. Its message should give optimistic Catholics an inside look at the mechanics of the progressivist heresy.

During the interview with Ambassador Kouri, the question was asked if the Cuban revolution will be "useful for finding points of convergence with the Holy See?"(15) His answer:
"The socialistic objective of the Cuban revolution was, in my opinion, unavoidable. Just like Socialist and Marxist humanism – because man is the root of everything for a true socialist. Man is the essence of the revolution. What we want to do is develop man, and the progress in every field that enters into public opinion over time must recognize the centrality of man"(16).
There is an echo here of Paul VI (and by extension, his successors in the New Church), which signaled to the world the sharing of progressivist and communist agendas:
"The themes which today preoccupy religion, be it Catholic or non-Catholic, all these converge from different directions upon one central, dominant focus, namely: man. According to the almost unanimous opinion of believers and unbelievers alike, all things on earth should be related to man as the center and crown'"(17).
Behold the first principle held in common by progressivists and communists: man. Progressivists and communists have joined hands. They have become one. Their concordat is clear, and it is likewise clear that it violates the law of contradiction, which holds that "one cannot say of something that it is and that it is not in the same respect and at the same time"(18). If "the center and crown" is man, then the Catholic Church was teaching error up until Vatican II. It appears that the contradictions existing innately in Progressivism (which poses as Catholic) unmask it as being essentially Gnostic.
The Gnostics say their Gnostic divinity has its origin in the mind of Satan himself, the father of the lie, who wants on the one hand to be adored as a god and on the other to destroy himself, because when he revolted against God, he lost his reason to exist. Thus at times Gnosis pictures the divinity as everything, and at other times as nothing (19).
God becomes "everything" in the doctrines of Pantheism, and He becomes nothing in Marxist Atheism.
Who does not see in the Assisi meetings of 1986 and 2002 a "pan-religious” drive to form a new world order? As for Marxist Atheism, why didn’t the New Church fathers pronounce against it at Vatican II? It is Progressivism's hour. But its convergence with the world's sects, with Communism, with Gnosticism, with all who reject the Catholic faith and the Real Presence – this will not last. A time will come when the tables will disappear, and the altar and the Cross will triumph.
Our Lady promised this new militancy at Fatima: "Finally, My Immaculate Heart will triumph"(20). The Standard of Our Lady will again be raised, and with it "the speedy coming of that great age of the Church which is to be the Age of Mary!"(21)
